After an exciting few years making and touring shows all over the world, Mercè and Patricia have somehow lost momentum and hit rock bottom. They always knew that making theatre would be difficult, but when they have to dress up as flamingos in a shopping centre to make ends meet, they seriously consider giving up.

Can their shared dream of staging Waiting for Godot get them back on track or will their long held ambition be strangled by red tape? A hilarious and sometimes moving exploration of companionship, co-dependency and what motivates us to keep going, even in the face of failure and bureaucratic brick walls.

You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon, the list will take on a life of its own. A new play about depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love. Based on true and untrue stories.

After 63 years, Liz Aggiss finally gives herself permission to do what she damn well pleases. Better late than never! She’s reached an age where doing the right thing is optional. Should she please you, or should she please herself?

THE ENGLISH CHANNEL is the story of a career forged in the heady waters of performance art and dance-film. Using her body as the medium through which to act out and act up, Aggiss becomes a conduit for wilful women and a cunning connection to ‘the other side.’ She is a witty commentator on life, death and the pain, pleasure and paradox of the stage. The drug is very effective if it is used according to the intended purpose, but at the same time it is not safe. It is better not to try it without prescription. Umanoove | Didy Veldman

The Happiness Project

Best known in the UK for her productions for Rambert, Northern Ballet and HeadSpaceDance, international dance artist Didy Veldman launches her own company Umanoove with The Happiness Project, a choreographic investigation of western society’s endless search for fulfillment.

This supremely physical and theatrical full length work for four dancers is made in collaboration with celebrated violinist/composer Alexander Balanescu, who performs live, and designer Kimie Nakano.

Flexer and Sandiland

Disappearing Acts

Disappearing Acts is the latest immersive performance by digital dance team Flexer and Sandiland.

Looking at the idea of illusion and its disintegration from a choreographic point of view, the work weaves together movements that we see and movements that we think we see. Working at low light levels, the Company explores the uncertainties of perception; movement that disappears into the shadows or which slips through unseen gaps in the curtains leaving lingering traces on the retina.

Drawing together personal stories and political threads around darkness, five dancers interpret specially written texts by Wendy Houston to a sound score by Karni Postel and Nic Sandiland and direction from Pete Phillips (Search Party).

Choreography is by Yael Flexer and the company, with bespoke lighting by Natalie Rowland and Nic Sandiland.
