    This Moment Now

    Thu 26 Nov | 7.30pm | Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 16+

This Moment Now takes its audience on a journey to explore how we experience time and draws on our desire to make sense of the complexity of the world. The show is drawn to the fleetingness of the moment and is based on the realisation that we, as we know us, inevitably belong to the past. Hello, I’m not really here to evaluate the drug http://hesca.net/levitra/ since I haven’t taken it yet. Truth is, I’ve been a premature ejaculator for more than 3 years. I’m not married yet. Of late, I consulted a urologist for the first time, who prescribed me this Levitra drug. Expect live drumming, a cup of tea, ideas on time dilation and ageing… and to be acknowledged for the investment of some of your ‘life time’ in coming to see the show.

Sylvia Rimat’s work is shown widely in the UK and internationally. She is known as a creator of intelligent, humorous performances that are entertaining and thought provoking in equal measure.

    Commissioned by ICIA.
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
Also supported by Bristol Old Vic Ferment, Arnolfini, Cambridge Junction, Chealsea Theatre and Residence.

“Like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Rimat is wonderfully deadpan; understated, yet quirkily charismatic ”

    Confirmation

    Thu 19 Nov | 7.30pm | Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 16+

If you pinned me against a wall, I’d probably admit to being a liberal.
Of course, pinning me against a wall is exactly what I’d expect from someone like you.

Confirmation is a show about the gulfs we can’t talk across, and about the way we choose to see only the evidence that proves we’re right. Working with research into the phenomenon of Confirmation Bias, Confirmation attempts to have an honourable dialogue, real and imagined, with political extremism. From multiple award winning Chris Thorpe (Unlimited, Royal Exchange, Hannah Jane Walker) and Rachel Chavkin (The TEAM).

Fringe First award winner – 2014

“Rachel Chavkin’s fast-moving, kinetic production offers us an absolutely compelling performance from a man who is fast becoming one of the most powerful performers in the UK”

    AfriCarmen

    Thu 8 Oct 7.30pm | Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 15+

Tavaziva’s AFRICARMEN is a sumptuous and evocative dance production loosely based on Georges Bizet’s popular opera Carmen.

Through a synthesis of ballet, contemporary and African dance, Bawren Tavaziva’s powerful choreography is performed by a cast of outstanding dancers.

Played out through the entanglement of desire, deceit and corruption in a township of oil-laden Equatorial Guinea, lingering ancestral voices are at work here amongst the dreams of a better life.

With a new score composed and arranged by Fayyaz Virji of the acclaimed Warriors International, AfriCarmen is Bawren Tavaziva’s most ambitious work to date.

Tavaziva’s previous show was rated ★★★★★ and described by press and audiences as:

“A contemporary African masterpiece – amazing, sublime, truly inspirational”

    Vesper Time

    Thu 1 Oct 7.30pm | Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 15+

Stacy Makishi’s performance work Vesper Time takes a bold look at loss and mourning and her onetime wish to be a missionary. Vesper Time weaves together the undercurrents of Moby Dick and 80’s and 90’s pop culture to offer up a ‘vesper’, a secular evening prayer. Shot through with her characteristic wit, this solo show draws on Stacy’s stand-up comedy roots and her theatrical sense of the uncanny.

Vesper Time is a Chelsea Theatre and Colchester Arts Centre co-commission and supported by the National Theatre Studio. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and produced by Artsadmin.

“I admire Stacy’s raw and loving energy. It was refreshing to experience something so humorously absurd containing such powerful substance. Stacy Makishi managed to open my heart with complex laughter”
