    Two Room Apartment

    THU 12 OCT | Full £10 Conc £6 | 7.30pm | AGE 15 plus

Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor by gadi dagonTwo Room Apartment brings Sheinfeld & Laor to the stage for a duet that reflects on their relationship as partners in life and as creators. Both personal and political, the work examines boundaries in various contexts: physical borders such as between territories or between two rooms, but also non-physical borders, such as the one between life and performance, and the boundaries that the individual sets for himself. The work uses a simple dance language and a minimalist aesthetic, and explores the notion of life as a framework in which a precise, almost compulsive repetition of customs and behaviours takes place.

The work suggests a re-imagining of the original performance created by Liat Dror and Nir Ben Gal that premiered in 1987 in Tel-Aviv. It is considered a milestone in the development of independent Israeli choreography.

Everything is open, accessible. Niv and Oren imbued the work with their intimate relationship and emotions, and the result is fascinating.

    Disappearing Acts

    Thu 20 Oct 6.00pm & 7.45pm Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 16+ (limited seating)

Disappearing Acts is the latest immersive performance by digital dance team Flexer and Sandiland.

Looking at the idea of illusion and its disintegration from a choreographic point of view, the work weaves together movements that we see and movements that we think we see. Working at low light levels, the Company explores the uncertainties of perception; movement that disappears into the shadows or which slips through unseen gaps in the curtains leaving lingering traces on the retina.

Drawing together personal stories and political threads around darkness, five dancers interpret specially written texts by Wendy Houston to a sound score by Karni Postel and Nic Sandiland and direction from Pete Phillips (Search Party).

Choreography is by Yael Flexer and the company, with bespoke lighting by Natalie Rowland and Nic Sandiland.

    2016 Performance

    THU 11 FEB | Full £8 Conc £5 | 7.30pm | AGE 12 plus

3Fall Dance Company is made up of third year BA Hons Dance students at the University of Chichester.

This year 3Fall have been working with three outstanding choreographers to create brand new exciting repertoire for the 2016 spring tour. Cai Tomos has produced a comical work, A Dance for you, with the dancers based around instructions given to them by family members about dancing; how we perceive it, describe it, and most importantly, do it. Carrie Whitaker (Lîla Dance) has created The Weight of Waiting, an exciting and emotionally driven work based around the idea of waiting; suspended between hope and hopelessness, these strangers find the strength to pull together, support and carry each other through the heaviness of the situation. Filip Van Huffel’s Below the Radar is an unsettling piece of sheer dynamic and unstoppable energy, based around groundedness, trust, humanity and speed. This exciting tour will also include projects created by third year student choreographers at the University.
