Ridiculusmus

Give Me Your Love

Thu 4 Oct 7.30pm | Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 16+

Theatre legends Jon Haynes and David Woods of Ridiculusmus are back with a funny, fragile and profound fable based on ground breaking medical research and real-life war testimonies.

Ex-soldier and budding rock star Zach has withdrawn into a cardboard box in a kitchen in West Wales. His friend Ieuan arrives offering recovery – in the form of a capsule containing 3,4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine with which he claims to have successfully treated his own post-traumatic stress.

Parachuted into their recently fractured pasts, Zach and Ieuan swing between dreamboat heroism and woozy enlightenment via a head warping exchange on patriotism, conflict and supermarket shopping that will tickle, move and appal you in equal measure.

A Welcome! To you and to me and our spikey, sticky, shameful bits!

With a raucous chorus of original music, award-winning theatre maker Rachel Mars and four belting female singers bring you a gleeful, dark show about the hidden workings of envy. Part symphony, part exorcism, Our Carnal Hearts is a thrilling and murky celebration of desire, competition and all the times we screw each other over. Performed with a surround-sound choral score by Louise Mothersole, Our Carnal Hearts comes to the ShowRoom after sell outs across the UK and US and a Total Theatre Award.

Suicide Notes …
the spoken word of Christopher Brett Bailey

Thu 18 Oct 7.30pm | Full £10 | Conc £6 | Age 16+

A different-every-night, shouting & reading show… stories, poems and black humour. Bailey’s words deliver a linguistic kaleidoscope of caustic cartoons, crackpot prophesies and demented erotica. Verbal diarrhoea, dirty jokes, venomous poetry, and tall tales that corkscrew deep into nightmares. Tonight he is a voice box and a microphone and nothing more: a potty mouthed poet, a reverend with a forked tongue, a standup comedian from hell, delivering a symphony of verbal adrenaline and twisted humour, a dense, poetic blend of the hallucinogenic and the hardboiled, a live action short story collection for the depraved, the depressed and the death obsessed.

“A beautiful maniac onstage with a mircrophone”

“Casson is a choreographic provocateur in the way he blurs the distinction between audience and performerby combining or inverting the two”
