James Rowland & Team Viking

Team Viking

THU 19 MAR 2020 | Full £12 | Conc £8 | 7.30pm | AGE 16 +

Five years ago, James’s best friend was diagnosed with heart cancer and told he had three months to live. His last wish was to be given a full Viking burial. This is the remarkable, hilarious and heart-lifting story of how James actually gave his best mate the send-off he wanted.

From one of the UK’s most celebrated storytellers, James Rowland’s Team Viking was a breakthrough hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, combining storytelling, comedy and live music. A comic ode to death and friendship – featuring an actual Viking helmet – the show has since toured across the world to international acclaim.

‘Joyous – heart-lifting and incredibly moving… as accomplished a piece of storytelling as you could hope to see’

★★★★★ The Stage

‘Equal parts sad, funny and ridiculous… a show of real courage combined with warmth and lyricism’

★★ ★★ Three Weeks

‘Masterful… one might, passionate epic’

She Goat

The Undefinable by She Goat

The Undefinable

THU 12 MAR 2020 | Full £12 | Conc £8 | 7.30pm | AGE 16 +

Live radio gig-theatre about unconventional relationships and the underrepresented qualities of love.

Two dudes. Well, kind of dudes. A garage studio. A late night broadcast.  Time slips between noughties love-pop, 70s folk fever and 18th century French philosophy. The dudes slip between instruments. Everything gets tangled.  Our kind of love is tangled and slippery. Love in the in-between. Love that doesn’t have language yet.  This is the Undefinable.

Clear the decks for historical wigs, irreverent nudity, reckless dancing, and a whole lot of coffee – as we embark on a queer-platonic mix-tape into the unknown future and forgotten past of doing love differently.

  ‘surreally funny…delightful playfulness’

★★★★ THE STAGE on DoppelDänger

‘completely engrossing – both Pastor and Turner are incredibly multi-talented’

Bert & Nasi

ONE by Bert and Nasi

ONE

Thu 26 Sep 7.30pm | Full £12 | Conc £8 | Age 16+

by Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas

ONE is the third and final part of a trilogy of work exploring power dynamics and political themes on a micro, human level.

It’s about polarisation, it’s about the left and the right. It’s also about two people who need to fix an awful, toxic relationship.

ONE is a painful conversation, either late at night or the early morning, in which neither side can bring themselves to just leave the room.

Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas’s work is stripped back to say the least: the shows shouldn’t be interesting, but the way they play with humour, brutality, and their ability to turn the mood of a room on a sixpence has resonated with audiences across the world.

Commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre and Bristol Old Vic Ferment.

Developed with the support of the National Theatre, MAYK, Shoreditch Town Hall and HOME.

“They are, to my mind, one of the most exciting prospects in British theatre”

Matt Trueman, Whatsonstage

“Startlingly effective: jagged, knockabout fun with a decidedly sharp edge” ★★★★
